Joint Chapter

IEEE AP-MTT Society

IEEE AP-MTT society’s field of interest includes analysis, design, development, measurement, and testing; radiation, radio propagation, and the interaction of electromagnetic waves with discrete and continuous media; and applications and systems pertinent to antennas, propagation, and sensing, such as applied optics, antenna signal processing and control, radio astronomy, and propagation and radiation aspects of terrestrial and space-based communication, including wireless, mobile, satellite, and telecommunications”. The society promotes the advancement of microwave theory and its applications, including RF, microwave, millimetre-wave, and terahertz technologies.

The activities sponsored by the AP-MTT society include a broad spectrum of conferences, workshops, tutorials, technical committees, chapter meetings, publications, professional education programs and local activities that Foster original work in all aspects of Antennas, Microwave engineering, and technology.

AP-MTT Bangalore Chapter

AP-MTT Bangalore chapter is one of the dynamic and most vibrant chapters in India and R10 region. There are over 80 AP-MTT professional members from industry and academia and around 20 student members. The society conducts very high valued current technology workshops and highly demanded workshops, technology talks, webinars and seminars.

Message from Chair

Dear Esteemed Members,

Congratulation to you all for being part of the technologies (Antenna, Propagation and Microwave) that enable freedom of mobility to human, devices and machines while communicating with others. These almost all pervasive technologies are there in the devices that you place very close to your heart or at faraway places even beyond the solar system (Voyager). They are there in the comfort of our rooms or in the toughest of the situation in freezing cold or near the hot furnaces. It’s also fascinating to note that the electromagnetic waves still carry some clue for the answer to the fundamental question about the beginning of the universe. In the Indian context also, we take pride on some of our greatest scientists like Sir J C Bose, Prof. Sisir Kumar Mitra, who made indelible mark in the annals of modern science and engineering while working in these very fields.

As a part of this exciting community, it gives me immense pleasure to note that our glory of past didn’t end there but in reality driving the multifaceted innovations required to support the day to day needs like 5G/6G systems for the common man or IoT systems for industry, or in designing the probes to study our neighbourhoods like Moon, Mars or the Sun for in finding out some missing blocks in the answer to the fundamental questions like ‘who am I?’ or ‘are we alone?’.

Congratulation once again to each of 550+ strong members (as on Jan 24) of IEEE spread across Karnataka for thoughtfully and consciously choosing the IEEE Antennas and Propagation and Microwave and Technology Societies as your preferred areas of interest! Let’s all work together to nurture this very special and highly relevant areas of technology required for our progress and create milestones for our future generations to refer to….

Best Regards,
Chandrakanta Kumar
