Dr. Ashutosh Kedar
Chair, IEEE APS–MTTS Joint Chapter (2026,25)

Dear Esteemed Members,

I congratulate all of you for being part of this vibrant community of RF and Microwave engineers. The RF and Microwave domain carries a rich legacy of pioneers whose contributions have played a vital role in shaping the modern world. The origin and impact of RF and Microwave engineering are visible across the universe—spanning domains such as the cosmic microwave background, radar systems, communications, biomedical applications, industrial microwaves, space exploration, near-field applications, and modern defense technologies. Indeed, the universe is immersed in the electromagnetic spectrum, ranging from HF to THz and beyond. The IEEE AP/MTT Joint Chapter, Bangalore, has been consistently committed to spreading knowledge across society and enabling the professional upliftment of engineers, researchers, and students. The chapter has been fortunate to witness the dedication of exceptional volunteers in the past, and it continues to evolve with enthusiastic new volunteers ready to work for this cause. As Chair, it is my priority to sustain the momentum set by my seniors and peers, and to create abundant opportunities for professionals, young professionals, academicians, and students to grow both intellectually and professionally.
Over the past year, the chapter has accomplished several landmark initiatives. One such achievement was the launch of a pan-India flagship event, the World Microwave Leaders Conclave, which brought global leaders in antennas, RF, and microwave engineering to Bangalore and featured outstanding technical lectures. The chapter organized multiple workshops, including Distinguished Microwave Instructors’ workshops and Distinguished Lectures by renowned AP and MTT leaders such as Sudhakar Rao, Joel Dunsmore, Mohammad Zarifi, Vishal Subramaniam, Prabhakar Pathak, and Surendra Pal. Additionally, the chapter organized the MathWorks Student Design Contest, which led to exceptional student outcomes, including publications at MAPCON 2025. The Chapter ExCom played a phenomenal role in the successful organization of MAPCON 2025. The chapter also had the privilege of hosting two MTT-S Presidents—Prof. Maurizio Bozzi and Dr. Goutam Chattopadhyay—together at a workshop held at RVCE.
Further, the chapter sponsored and supported IEEE AESS 2025, which was a remarkable success and a strong demonstration of multi-society collaboration. Faculty and student volunteers were actively promoted and supported to attend national and international events. The chapter also spearheaded intra-society collaborations across the country, reinforcing the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”—the world as one family.

As Dr APJ Kalam once said, “You cannot change your future, but you can change your habits, and surely your habits will change your future,” With this inspiration, I look forward to more volunteers joining the chapter and contributing towards the continued growth and upliftment of the RF and Microwave community.

Congratulations once again to our 1400+ members. I warmly welcome you to the society and invite you to join us as volunteers for our upcoming events and make them a great success.

Best Regards

Dr. Ashutosh Kedar
