Chandrakanta Kumar (Senior Member, IEEE) was born in Shibpur, India. He received the M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees in radiophysics and electronics from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India, in 2001 and 2012, respectively. He completed the Space Studies Program from International Space University (ISU), Strasbourg, France, in 2013., He joined the U Rao Satellite Centre, Bengaluru, India, in 2001, as an Engineer. He designs the antenna systems for Indian satellite and ground stations. He has about 125 technical publications. He has supervised two masters’ and one Ph.D. thesis and supervising two more Ph.D. students. His current research areas are defected ground structure (DGS) integrated antennas, phased arrays, and antennas for spacecraft., Dr. Kumar is also a fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) and a Life Member of the Astronautical Society of India. He is on the board of reviewers of journals on antennas and microwave published by IEEE, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and so on.
