V V Srinivasan
Past Chair 2017

V. V Srinivasan (M’03-SM’04) received the M.Tech degree in microwave electronics from Delhi University, New Delhi, India, in 1986 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India, in 2017. In 1986, he joined the Communication Systems Group, U. R Rao Satellite Center (formerly ISRO Satellite Center), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bengaluru, India, in 1986. In 2016, he joined ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC), Bengaluru, in 2016. He is currently the Director of ISTRAC, which is entrusted with the major responsibility to provide telemetry, tracking, and command support for all remote sensing satellites, interplanetary satellites, and launch vehicle missions of ISRO. He has authored or co-authored more than 110 technical articles in various national/international conferences and journals. He is involved in the development of antennas for spacecrafts, airbome radar applications, and ground station antennas. His current research interests include phased array antennas for spacecraft applications, microstrip antennas and arrays, high-efficiency, lightweight reflector antennas, broadband antennas, ground station antennas, and feeds for reflector antennas. designed space borne phased array antennas with dual circular polarization capability, which have flown and are widely used to transmit high-quality images in state-of-the-art remote sensing satellites. One of his important contributions is in the design and realization of ISRO’s 32 m-diameter ground station antenna with beam waveguide (IDSN-32) Dr. Srinivasan was a recipient of the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), India, Award in 1998, for a novel antenna feed development and the IETE’s Prof. S. N. Mitra Memorial Award in 2002 He was also a recipient of the Team Excellence Award-2007 of ISRO for his contribution in the design of IDSN-32 and phased array antenna and the Team Excellence Award-2014 for the development of communication systems for Mars Orbiter Mission. He is an active IEEE volunteer and served the Bangalore section in various capacities and chaired the section in 2010 and 2011
